Efficiency and Lumen Maintenance

The ROMlight electronic ballast operates High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps with lower energy losses and superior lumen maintenance than magnetic ballast technology. This means savings in the cost of light as a result of either requiring fewer fixtures in new installations or reducing the wattage per fixture in retrofit applications. Romlight ballasts operate at an impressive 97% efficiency compared with the 75% to 85% efficiency of Magnetic Ballasts.  The improvement in lumen maintenance reduces excessive relamping costs.

Relamping Savings

The high frequency operation of ROMlight ballasts reduce lumen depreciation by soft starting the HID lamp, lessening electrode erosion and the resultant arc tube blackening.  Superior lumen maintenance means more useful light (i.e., higher lumen output over time) at the end-of-lamp-life pushing the relamping cycle for Metal Halide Pulse Start lamps out from 12,000 Hrs to 18,000 Hrs.

In a facility that operates 8,000 hrs/yr using 450 fixtures, this translates to a $93,150 reduction in maintenance costs over a 10-year period ($25 lamp + $65 labor = replacement cost).  A savings of over $20/fixture/year.

Cost of Ownership - New

Using a Romlight ballast instead of a magnetic ballast with a 400-watt pulse start lamp results in a 71% savings.
Dimming or occupancy sensors and light harvesting option not included in the example.  Use of these energy conservation techniques would increase operating savings substantially.

Savings vs. Fluorescent Fixtures

To generate the same lumen output as one 400-watt pulse start metal halide lamp, a fluorescent fixture would require 8.5 lamps at 35C. The ROMlight electronic ballast operating HID lamps supply more lumens per watt at normal ambient operating temperatures and huge savings in lamp replacement costs.

Additional Value Features

Light Weight system
Less expensive installation labour and hardware.

Quite Operation
No audible hum or buzz.

Cool Operation
The exceptional efficiency of the ROMlight electronic ballast generates significantly less heat then magnetic ballasts reducing air conditioning load.

Environmental
Extending useful lamp life through lumen maintenance and requiring fewer lamps to generate the same light as other forms of lighting reduces the impact of lighting waste on our landfills.  Using less electricity reduces air pollution.

Comprehensive Warranty
ROMlight electronic HID ballasts are warranted for a full 3 years.
